One Month of Central MA Mahjong: Building Community, One Tile at a Time
A month ago, I opened the doors to a little Mahjong studio in Grafton with a simple hope: that people would come, learn, and find joy in the game I love. What’s unfolded since then has been more than I imagined — full Wednesday night tables, sold‑out lessons, and a growing circle of women who bring laughter, curiosity, and connection to every session.
The First Month in Motion
Each week has carried its own rhythm — the sound of tiles clicking, the hum of conversation, the quiet focus of someone realizing they’ve just won their first hand. These moments have turned a historic space with pocket doors and a fireplace into something alive: a place where community is forming, friendships are starting, and confidence is growing one tile at a time.
Lessons Learned
Starting a business from scratch is equal parts excitement and vulnerability. I’ve learned that people don’t just come for the game — they come for the feeling of belonging. They come because they want to be part of something local, something warm, something that feels like home. And that’s exactly what Central MA Mahjong is becoming.

Gratitude and Growth
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who trusted me enough to show up — to the beginners who took a chance on learning, to the regulars who make Wednesday nights sparkle, and to the friends who’ve cheered me on from the sidelines. This first month has proven that small, cozy spaces can create big connections.
Here’s to month one… and to many more tiles, laughter, and shared wins ahead. 💛
